Peyia Village, Paphos, Cyprus

14km northwest of Paphos and 3km north of Coral Bay lays the hillside village of Peyia. One of the most popular residential villages, it has an attractive cistern-fountain square, a number of good cafes and tavernas, and all the amenities and facilities you need. Peyia village overlooks the sea and the views down across the valley and along the coast are simply stunning

Peyia (Pegeia) Village, is one of the most attractive and friendly villages in south-west Cyprus.

It enjoys the advantages of both a quiet rural location, and glorious views of the sparkling Mediterranean and the surrounding countryside. Pegeia is ideally located within Paphos and is a wonderful location to explore this fantastic region of Cyprus.

The beautiful sandy beaches, the crystal blue sea and the peculiar rock formations are unique to the area.

Local amenities and sports include cycling, tennis, horse riding, paragliding, go-karting, swimming and a variety of beach activities.

Safaris run regularly to all parts of the island from here. Several family-run taverns and restaurants serve excellent fresh food at great value for money.

There are also rock-hewn tombs of the Roman period scattered throughout the area. Pegeia is also well-known for its fountains in the village square.

Close enough to Paphos Town to allow guests to easily explore the area, the village is located in a delightfully peaceful place, only two kilometers (a five minute drive/taxi) from the wonderful beach and resort area of Coral Bay where there are also shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. The many travel agencies in the area can help you organize a selection of great sightseeing trips. The best selection of private villas are also available for rent and purchase in this area.

Facilities in Pegia are mainly situated on the main street leading into Pegia Village.  You will find a Chemist, a butchers and a bakery - which serves delicious bread first thing in the morning.

There are three banks in Pegeia.  All exchange money - either British travellers cheques or Cypriot travellers cheques and cash.  If you are changing traveller cheques don't forget your passports.  Banks are open from 08:00 - 12:30 Monday to Friday.  Please note: the banks are closed on Saturday and Sunday and afternoons.  There is also a cash machine (hole in the wall facilities ) in Pegeia Village, at the Bank of Cyprus.

Behind the church you will find Pegeia's answer to Aladdin's cave, also know as Phillipo's Supermarket - everything your heart desires from yoghurt, milk, bread, olives, fresh fruit and veg, kitchen sinks microwaves ovens, cuddly toys, sets etc - well, go and see for yourselves!
