Q: Who is PaphosProperty.com? A: PaphosProperty.com, is a web-based advertising company based in Paphos and specialising in renting quality properties only in the Paphos region of Cyprus. All our properties and services are illustrated on our website. This site provides a cost-effective way of allowing guests to book directly and stay in quality, individual properties at lower prices to booking through a travel agent or tour operator. Q: How do I book my accommodation? A: Click here to see how to book or telephone us on 00357 99 453408. Q: How is payment made? A: Payment can be made by cheque, by bank transfer or by credit/debit card. Q: How do I get the keys and gain access to the accommodation? A: After the balance payment has been made (usually 2 months before arrival) you will receive full directions and key/access instructions to your accommodation. The email will also contain links to get quotes for car hire and airport taxi transfers from local companies. If we arrange your taxi transfers, we ensure the driver is supplied with the address and directions to your accommodation. Q: What if there is a problem while I am at the villa, who do I contact? A: All our villas and apartments are required to have property management. You will be supplied with the property manager's telephone numbers. You should contact the property manager if you have a problem or have any questions. Normally the property manager will visit you at an early stage of your holiday to make sure you have settled-in and have any questions. Typically the property manager will visit the morning following your arrival day before 12pm. If you have a problem and the property manager is not contactable for any reason, you can call PaphosProperty.com on: 00357 99 453408 and we will assist you in any way we can. Q: What number should I use to call PaphosProperty.com? A: We can be contacted by ringing 00357 99 453408. Alternatively e-mail the desk at: admin@paphosproperty.com Q: Is Air-Con and heating included in the price of the accommodation, or is it an extra? A: It is standard practice in Cyprus not to include air-conditioning in the price but to offer it as an optional extra. With A/C included, the villa price would be higher to reflect this (typically £80 GBP per week higher for a 3 bed villa). The main reasons A/C is not added to the villa price: depending on the time of the year (cooler months) or the size of your party (2 or 4 people staying in a 6 bed villa) you would be paying for units that you would not use. A/C as an optional extra: on your arrival you can decide if A/C is required and what units you want. Typically the price of A/C is £2.50 CYP per unit per day and you would pay the property manager directly. Some owners offer A/C free of charge as an incentive to book with them and this will be shown in their property details. Q: Are the rates per person or for the entire property? A: Our rates are for the entire property on a weekly basis. Q: Are the prices in Stirling or Cyprus pounds? A: All prices quoted are in British Pounds Sterling (GBP). Q: On which days do property bookings usually commence? A: Most property "changeover days" are flexible. Some owners prefer Wednesdays or Sundays as the majority of the flights from the U.K. are on these days. Q: What is the required length of stay? A: A minimum 7-night stay is required. Q: Aren't villas more expensive than a hotel? A: You'll see that many properties are often much cheaper than prices of hotels of the same quality standard. Villa rentals offer more privacy, more comfort and more freedom than hotel rooms. Your holiday accommodation also comes with a fully equipped kitchen, making a Cyprus vacation rental an economical choice. When two or more people are travelling, a rental is usually considerably less expensive than staying in hotel rooms and eating all of your meals out. When you factor in all the benefits and amenities of a private villa and private pool or similar property, you'll quickly realize that our Paphos properties offer superb value. (Remember to compare rates per room/per night). Q: What is your deposit and cancellation policy? A: For most of of our properties the following standard practices apply: A 30% deposit is required to hold a reservation. Reservations are not considered firm until the deposit, in cleared funds is received. The balance of your payment is due 8 weeks prior to your arrival date. In the event of you cancelling the booking, no refund is made. It is therefore strongly recommended that you take out Travel Insurance. We recommend you pay by credit or debit card as the card issuer will offer a level of insurance cover. Please check with the card issuer to see what level of insurance is provided. Q: Do mobile phones work in Cyprus? A: Generally most GSM network mobile phones do work in Cyprus although at times reception can be erratic and some locations are unsuitable for mobile telephones (mountains), so we advise that you check with your airtime provider. Q: Is Travel Insurance Required? A: Yes, it is strongly recommended that you arrange comprehensive travel insurance to include accommodation cancellation. If your require assistance in this respect contact us. Q: Are Visas Required? A: Visas are not required for EEC passport holders although a full passport valid for at least 3 months from your date of return is required. If you do not hold an EEC Passport, or require any further Visa information, we recommend that you check before you book your villa, with the Cyprus High Commission (Tel: 0207 499 8272) as to whether a visa is required in your case. Q: Are Vaccinations Required? A: No inoculations or vaccinations are compulsory for UK residents, but the DHSS does recommend certain health precautions for travellers - see their leaflets SA40 and SA41 for details (obtainable from your local Dept. of Health office) or ask your doctor. Should you be taking any form of medication, take adequate supplies with you and carry them, as well as items like contact lenses, in your hand luggage only. Q: What is the currency used in Cyprus? A: The Cypriot currency is Cyprus Pounds. Please use our currency converter to obtain the current exchange rate. In early 2008, Cyprus adopts the Euro as it's currency. We recommend you take most of your spending money in the form of traveller's cheques (Sterling), although in the major tourist centres the banks should cash cheques written in conjunction with a Eurocheque card, and credit cards are widely accepted. You can also withdraw money from cash machines. Q: Are the Safety Standards and Regulations the same as in the UK? A: The safety standards and regulations in operation in Cyprus may not reach the same level as those we enjoy in the U.K. The monitoring, enforcement and compliance with these local regulations is a matter for the authorities of that country and the foreign supplier of the services concerned. The general standards of safety and hygiene, fire precautions etc, will generally be lower than in the U.K. Liability insurance requirements vary considerably from country to country, as does the responsibility placed on an organisation by local law. Please therefore take all precautions to protect yourself and your family whilst on holiday. Q: What about insects and pests? A: Some villas and village houses are often located in rural areas. Indeed, for many people, this is one of their great attractions. However, having open countryside nearby or a location within a working village, 'friendly locals' can include more than the village priest. Ants, lizards, wasps, spiders, field mice, snakes, field rats etc. are not uncommon in Cyprus although no more numerous than anywhere else in the Mediterranean. So, if you or any of your party are likely to be squeamish about a possible visit from local wildlife, we recommend you check with us as to the suitability and location of your chosen accommodation before you book. Q: What are the check in and check out times? A: Access to properties will be after 3pm to allow for cleaning and have to be vacated by 10am on day of departure. Q: What if I have a late flight and the check-out time is 10 am? A: Depending on the arrival time of the guests following, the property manager may be able to extend your check-out time. This normally can't be later than 12pm as the property manager and cleaners have their schedules and the property needs to be cleaned and made-ready for the next arrivals. Late flights a common "problem" and the property manager will be able to offer advice on where to store luggage, etc. A good tip is to use the nearest hotel and pay for a room only for half a day (this is very economical). This way you can use the hotel's facilities, store luggage and have a shower before departure. You can arrange for your return taxi to collect you from the hotel. If you have hired a car which you have booked to leave at the airport, you will have the car to store your luggage in. To request a later check-out time you will need to speak to the property manager on arrival. This decision can only be made by the property manager and will depend on the booking following yours. A decision cannot be made earlier than your arrival because of any potentially late booking. Q: Is a car required? A: It depends on the location of the property and the property details will give an indication if a car is necessary. However, we strongly recommend that guests reserve a car. Often properties can be too far to walk to conveniences and in some locations public transport is limited. You will be given a link to get a car hire quote from a preferred local company no later than 2 months before your arrival. Q: Can you arrange transfers to and from the airport? A: Yes, at your request we can arrange for you to be collected from the airport and delivered to your accommodation (and from accommodation to airport). Prices on request. This service applies to Paphos Airport only. Q: Do the villas have telephones or internet access? A: Unless otherwise stated on the property details, villas do not have the use of a telephone. To make telephone calls you can either use local phone boxes, your own mobile phone or purchase a 'pay as-you-go' card from kiosks and supermarkets or from the local Cytanet Office. There are now many internet cafes located in Paphos and many of the hotels offer internet access. Q: Are towels and linen provided? A: Bed linen and bathroom towels are provided at all of our properties. We advise that you bring your own towels for pool/beach use as these are not provided, unless otherwise stated on the property details. The towels supplied are only for use inside the property and are not to be used outdoors, on the sun beds or at the beach. Towels and linen are usually changed at the end of 7 days unless otherwise stated.
